I had a great experience at the Pickled Palm in Fuerteventura recently. It’s located in a complex with other eateries and shops, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the area. Although the place may look a bit worn from the outside, it adds to the overall charm and character of the restaurant.
It was super busy when I visited, with people being turned away every second. Despite the hustle and bustle, the staff managed to create a friendly and welcoming environment. The Pickled Palm offers a few vegan options on their menu, and I was impressed by their willingness to accommodate any meal by veganizing it upon request.
I mentioned I was okay to leave, but they took pity on me and offered me a delicious mushroom stroganoff made with almond milk and served with rice. The atmosphere inside was lively, with a full open front that allowed the energy from the bustling complex to flow in. After a quick wait and a drink, my food arrived promptly. It was amazing! The dish looked great, tasted perfect, and didn’t need any extra seasoning. The texture of the stroganoff and rice was spot on.
I spent about €18 on my meal and a drink, a fair price considering the quality. I plan to return for the vegan burger before I leave. Next time, I’ll book ahead to secure a spot.
Returning for More: A Tasty Encore at Pickled Palm
I revisited the Pickled Palm twice to savor two more vegan dishes, and they both exceeded my expectations.
The first dish that caught my attention was the Vegan Beet Burger, a mouthwatering creation consisting of a unique blend of ground herby shrooms, grated beetroot, lentils, and mint, all topped with marmite, lettuce, sweet pickled red onions, fresh cucumber, and mint sauce.
The flavors of the Vegan Beet Burger were truly delightful! It was like a taste explosion in every bite, offering a fantastic texture. The presentation was impeccable, featuring a vegan brioche bun, chunky chips, and a thoughtfully crafted salad. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable culinary experience.
On my final visit, I decided to try a vegan special that had been advertised on Facebook: Arancini – panko-breaded rice and tofu balls infused with garlic and coriander, served in the center of a beautifully dressed fresh summer salad, accompanied by a sweet chili dipping sauce.
Despite arriving during lunchtime when the special was typically served in the evening, the chef graciously prepared it for me. The Arancini were simply incredible – delicious and satisfying, perfectly complemented by the sauce and the refreshing salad. This last visit marked a perfect conclusion to my holiday in Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura. If you find yourself in the area, a visit to the Pickled Palm is a must for a delightful dining experience.
