Discover Wood House: Vegan Gem in Phu Quoc

Wood House: Vegan Gem in Phu Quoc

When visiting the stunning island of Phu Quoc in Vietnam, make sure to stop by Wood House in Ong Lang. My journey to this gem began with a walk along Ong Lang Beach. As I explored the area, I ventured up a road lined with a few restaurants. Though the area is becoming a bit more touristy, it retains a charming, local feel. My attention was caught by a lovely purple umbrella shading a menu, and I knew I had to check it out.

Upon entering Wood House, I discovered a beautiful place that has since become a favorite. Having been in Phu Quoc for over two weeks, I’ve visited Wood House about 10 times – it’s that good. There was one minor hiccup with the food, but the staff sorted it out quickly and with genuine apologies, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction.

A Haven for Vegans

As a vegan, I found an impressive selection of vegetarian dishes, most of which are vegan or can easily be adjusted by simply asking them to leave out egg or fish sauce. I still don’t understand why fish sauce finds its way into vegetarian food, but the team at Wood House happily accommodates your dietary needs.

A Diverse and Delicious Menu

The food at Wood House reminds me of my favorite restaurant experience at Yawee in Koh Lanta, Thailand. Their menu offers a delightful mix of Vietnamese and Western dishes, ensuring there’s something for everyone. From smoothies to alcoholic beverages and hot drinks, including the delicious Vietnamese coffee, the drink selection is extensive and satisfying.

Affordable Prices and Thoughtful Touches

What’s more, the prices at Wood House are incredibly reasonable, making it an affordable dining option. At the end of your meal, they surprise you with free fruit, adding a sweet finish to your dining experience. After you’ve paid, they also give you a complimentary bottle of water, a thoughtful gesture that leaves a lasting impression.

A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Wood House is truly welcoming. The owners and staff, a close-knit family, greet you with genuine smiles and friendly service that makes you feel right at home. Even when there’s a minor issue, like the occasional forgotten spring roll (which has become a light-hearted running joke among my friends and me), they resolve it with a smile and bring the missing item out straight away. It’s these little touches that keep us coming back.
